This position may be filled at different levels depending on the selected candidates qualifications and experience.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Production Planner is responsible for the end-to-end planning and coordination of top-level assemblies and all associated subcomponents required for final product builds. This role ensures the timely creation, tracking, and fulfillment of Manufacturing Orders (MOs), while managing material flow, addressing supply chain disruptions, and collaborating cross-functionally to meet production demand. The Production Planner will act as the primary owner for assigned assemblies and is expected to drive accuracy, efficiency, and proactive issue resolution throughout the planning process.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain full ownership of assigned top-level assemblies and all sub-parts required to complete the final product through to receipt into Material Control (MC).
- Ensure accurate and complete routings are created for each assigned assembly. Proactively seek clarification when needed to avoid delays or errors.
- Create, track, and manage MOs with accurate due dates for all necessary components and assemblies.
- Monitor MO progress and participate in daily production review meetings to provide recaps and highlight red flag items.
- Submit and manage Purchase Requisitions for all materials required to fulfill demand.
- Make decisions with consideration budget and supplier lead times.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to define and maintain appropriate stock levels for both manufacturing and buying items.
- Drive closure of engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to enable available product for their assigned assemblies.
- Address urgent issues or disruptions related to assigned assemblies to avoid delays in production.
- Perform peer-to-peer reviews of MOs before release to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Perform other duties as necessary or required.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: (Level I)
- High school diploma or GED with 2-5 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing or production workflows.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Self-motivated and dependable with a proactive approach to task completion.
- Requirement to complete Udemy Microsoft Project Training or equivalent within 3 months.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: (Level II)
- High school diploma with at least 5+ years of experience in production planning, material planning, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, routings, and bill of materials (BOMs).
- Ability to analyze data, identify risks, and communicate effectively across departments.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment and able manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and proactive mindset with a desire to learn and grow within the organization.
- Requirement to complete Udemy Microsoft Project Training or equivalent within 3 months.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or ongoing BS studies in STEM or related program.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and experience in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project.
- Familiarity with Solidworks.
- Familiarity with PDM.
- Experience in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Deltek CostPoint).
- Familiarity with the aerospace/manufacturing industry is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Ability to traverse manufacturing facility.
